What it is
The first day of the Year of the Goat falls on 6 February 2027, and the official public holiday runs 4-10 February. In the days before, flower markets and street decorations appear in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and Nguyen Hue walking street holds a big flower display.
Tips for going on a budget
- Trains, buses and domestic flights sell out before Tết; book weeks ahead.
- Many family-run restaurants and shops close for the first few days, so plan meals at hotels or larger venues.
- Arrive a few days early to see the flower markets and festive preparations.
